Our family enjoyed Casa Garifuna for a 3 week stay. The house was perfect for our family. The set up of the open deck and the pool and the visibility of the beach allowed us to see what the kids were doing and making sure they were safe as we were enjoying ourselves with a book or conversation. The staff was exceptional and we felt like it was our home. The architecture is and aesthetic of this home is right out of Elle decor and pleasing to the eye as we enjoyed the days at the beach drinking local coconut juice from the coconut and ate wonderful Salvadorian food.

I would recommend Casa Garifuna to anyone who wants to get away and really enjoy a beach vacation.

Absolute paradise! We stayed at this amazing beach home over the Christmas holidays and had a fantastic vacation. The house was large enough to accommodate all 14 of us without feeling cramped. It is actually perfectly laid out for a larger group but I would also recommend it for a smaller group - it would not feel overwhelmingly large. The house is literally on top of the beach yet it is very private as the deck of the main living area is perched high above the beach. It is a great spot for viewing sunsets or the stars at night. The main deck of the house is a big open space that is partially covered. Since the couch, the lounge chairs for sunbathing, the pool, the dining room table and the kitchen are all part of this large area, you always feel like you are a part of the group. Yet plenty of space and nooks for some privacy. The whole house is very comfortably furnished - simple, modern and luxurious. It is obvious that the owners use the house themselves and it is not just a rental property. Each of the bedrooms has its own bathroom and the beds are very comfortable. You can actually see the ocean as you wake up in the master bedroom. There is a very large enclosed back yard excellent for kids to run around. The owner was very helpful with answering my many questions nd always responded almost instantly. It was very comforting to have such great communication when planning a family trip from the USa. Then, there is the staff... How nice is it to come back from a day trip and be offered a fresh coconut to drink? Or wake up to the smell of freshly brewed coffee and have the table set with freshly cut fruits? Not having to do dishes after a great meal, not having to clean, etc. The staff was excellent and very friendly. We absolutely loved the place and hope to be back one day. Highly recommended for a family or a group of friends.

This beautiful beach front house sleeps about 20 people - roughly 10 upstairs and another 10 downstairs. We recently stayed here for five nights with our kids and their friends: My son, 26 and his girlfriend who's 24; my three daughters who are ages 17, 23 and 24 and their friends. After attending a wedding in San Salvador we rented a couple of vans to accommodate all 9 of us plus our suitcases and the food we had purchased. Everyone loved it. The open space deck that overlooks the ocean is wonderful. We went for daily walks and found an estuary that meets a national park filled with palm trees. Each day, coconuts were picked for us and everyone enjoyed drinking out of the coconut with a straw. The house keeper then cracked them open to savor the delicious coconut meat. One of the days we went on a day trip to Lake Coatepeque where we had lunch and swam in the volcanic lake water surrounded by mountains. It took roughly 30 minutes to get there. When we got back the house maid who also cooks had dinner ready for us. The sunsets were magnificent, the water so warm and the stars so bright at night that each moment was memorable. If you are planning a trip to Central america, this house in Costa azul is on a private beach, unspoiled and simply beautiful. At night you can enjoy bonfires, smores and even home-made tiki lights that they make out of beer cans. One night the evening watchman lit up the pool that's on the deck with coconut and tea lights. Swimming at night under the stars and surrounded by coconut candles was awesome. Upon returning to our home in Marin County, we all have a sweet flavor that was left by our stay in this house in Costa azul.
